About Partners in Education...
The Partners in Education (P.I.E.) Project supports a joint effort of parents, administrators, teachers, students, and community to increase the effectiveness of the educational program. The (P.I.E.) Project encourages interaction among all participants, form links between home and school, and welcomes insights and personal strengths that parents bring to a school setting.
The Objectives for the P.I.E. Project are the following:
To
increase parent involvement in school activities.
To
provide parents with strategies and materials to use at home with their children.
To
increase an interest in and an awareness of books available for parents and students.
The Partners in Education (P.I.E.) Project involves parents through home-school projects, parent workshops, guest speakers, a family night workshop, newsletters, lending parent library, and take-home bags for students. Parent workshops are a very effective way for helping parents gain knowledge and skills they need for supporting a child's learning. Workshop topics incorporate literacy, math, science, social studies, art, and music. The emphasis is on helping parents acquire strategies they can use at home with their own children. Newsletters are published as part of the program. A lending parent library was established including books and videos. Special home-based projects were developed for parents to use at home with their children. Students are provided with take-home bags including books and activities to foster parent and child interaction in all areas of learning.
The Partners in Education (P.I.E.) Project is an excellent way to empower parents with strategies and materials to use at home with their children. The P.I.E. Project increased parent participation and involvement in school activities. The P.I.E. Project members were able to build a strong partnership with parents to make a positive difference for the children in our school.
